lyrics

What it is about music?
What's it got?
What does it mean for a depressed, tired, sober human being,
to feel the pain
of music in their head?

PURE JAZZ
There's jazz in Coral Gables, at noon,
it's free, and it's my thing, so I run.
The Murphy Trio, three fat old men,
playing for an audience of fat old men.

Noon on a Wednesday. Behind
us, Salzedo and Aragon is gridlocked
stop signs, engines, horns,
A child watches from the grass. Such peace.

Then the bald guy on drums
gets cracking, jamming with the guy on bass.
Hey it's free, and it's noon for fuck's sake.

And sweat doesn't stink when you're happy.
So get stuck in, joyful and slick,
or piss off and do something else with your day.
['Jazz Neto', poem by Legna Rodriguez Iglesias]
