The Interview at Gethsemane

I first head Lemonade on a collaboration she did with the wonderful guitarist then known as Pourqoui, now known as Walzendorfer.
@walzendorfer
I was intrigued at how she would lend her voice to such an avant garde sound as that.
@lemonadelove

So I kept in the back of my mind to muster up the courage to importune her into a collaboration with moi!

I had a bluesy abstract sketch of guitars to which she put this lovely spoken word part.
The lyrics conjure up a strange juxtaposition of the every day and the mythical.

This arrangement I have made [and title - or rather Lemonade called it 'the interview', and I added the 'Gethsemane' part] is just my interpretation of her words, but I won’t try and impose that interpretation on you – just listen to the words carefully, and make your own.

.......

Perfectly woven collaboration, that really has me leaning in. You showed excellent restraint in not time stretching Lemonade's voice until the very end, and then you did it so well.
: That's a good point about restraint, but Helen's vocal was so perfect in the first place - she phrased so well over the track I had sent her.

this is fantastic! super trippy guitar... and love the helen's voice...
Yeah Helen's voice is supernatural

Definitely a worthy sit down journey here, didn't quite believe how much time had passed.
: I structured it so that moves on towards its denoument - Lemonade put her vocal on what is now the second half, so I premirrored that with the first half which has mainly a guitar solo and vocal fragments from the second half prefigures it, so it sets up the second half and eases it through, all pointing twards the 'demigods' pay off of the lyric
: Makes sense, there's a build-up that slowly builds to a point where time was more fluid than usual.

tremendous trip..!
- Lemonade has that thing that all the best vocalists have - a sense of narrative. She takes you on a trip, transports you - that spurred me to makes sounds that did something similar

Fine fine fine!:)

Fearless Guitar Excellence!

lyrics

The Interview

I warned him ...
But he didn't listen ...

They crucified him ...

So clean cut ....

He came .... for the ... interview ...

.... sent the hairs on my neck straight up!

Why?!?

He didn't listen.

They kept coming, one after another.
Three o'clock in the afternoon,
As if they were born just an hour before.

They came
So clean cut
I didn't know what to do, but to offer them
A coffee. A coffee or tea:
"Two sugars"

They came, for the interview.
