The Earth Has Two Moons

about

I had intended to do something when I first heard Augenmerk’s lyric, but shelved it, not happy with my efforts.
But the concept of the two moons haunted me bemeantimes.
It had that combination of science fact and science fiction, all rolled into mythology. One thinks of the twin gods of the ancients, dual moon gods and goddesses. And the sexual implications too involved in all creation stories – and destruction stories.

As always, Augenmerk’s voice was the catalyst. And it wasn’t until I started noodling around on a jazz guitar behind her voice that I felt I had something [and all the guitars used on this are semi-acoustics – even the screaming ones].
I even spoke the English version of her poem [slightly altered] and put it on the track – but I eventually erased it. It sounded better with it off and only the Teutonic tones of Augenmerk on there.
And are we Englsh and Germans not twin 'sisters' too? Like jazz and blues?

Oh my God I was trying to read a letter with this going on in the background the fact that it stopped me and that I'm pissed off means it's good.

enjoying the complex stereo topology!

This is all very relaxing somehow.
it's coming to a resolution, v e r y s l o w l y
: Sometimes that's the best resolution!

Almost expect the thing to stop and come out of hyperspace for a minute with a message from our sponsors!
Yeah - buy moon!

Almost a piano vibe out of the guitar for a minute, it's a post-modern jazz club gone to seed.

When in doubt, jazz it with anything. Then destroy. If I had a Beefheart rule, that would be it!
: It's a good dictum!
: It's served me well in many instances where I was at a loss!

Most excellent stunning sounds!
- sometimes the gamble gambol pays off!
it's fantastic experimental art, i am happy and excited that my vocals could lead to that .
- your words, voice and spirit can lead anywhere and everywhere!

Crazy Good Production
- a few happy accidents in there

I am loving this - marvelous in all aspects!
- Karin was the eternal inspiration

Really interesting , nice musical creation on this poem !
- I let the voice and the words lead me - as I say elsewhere, I tried to put my own vocal of the English translation of the poem on - I took it off, but doing it added greatly to my interpretation of Augenmerk's lyric.

you really have created your own sonic universe of molten stars, and mastered it. hat's off to you.
, my equipment is close to melt down too ... but where do you go when your world - your moon - is melted? To other worlds and other moons .... let us fly there, or else board the ship
hats off, yes!! i'll be there too!! ; )
Where do you go? You have no choice. The ships are pulled!

great passage - that was a last minute change and it worked well. I wanted to pare back to the texture of just vocal and fuzz bass [an unusual combination], just to hear that voice in the round again, and also have a false ending presaging the final freak out which of course depicts the collision of the two moons when one is obliterated!

wait, was that a melodic motif i heard?
n: Yeah, this track is almost musical! I used a few motifs and constructions, forms, to give shape - but they all grew out of the improvisiation

mmm

fantastic. i love how you kept Karin's voice intact in the opening, and "backed her up" like a live emsemble. a jazz or blues ensemble, very broken.
- I used another new addition to my guitar family - an Ibanez AF75 [like a 175 but with rounded cutaway] for the jazzy runs at the start - I'd been hankering after that sound, and while I can't afford a Gibson, the Ibanez is within my reach and such a great guitar. Joke is, I used it for the screaming whammy pedal leads too! These hollow bodied jazzers are the ultimate guitars, really. The smoky hook lines are played on the Epi 339, another great semi, and the slide on the Indie semi with P90s.

great version, like!
- I had some heavy company!

lyrics

The Earth Had Two Moons

The earth had two moons,
which an immense crash united.
Boundlessly
memory
dreams.
Solar flood,
asteroid spheres ....
I am the twin sister, the rear guard
I open dreams, balance the sleep
But if I come!
And how I come! Closer to you, wake up!

The time has come, sister of the middle!
After millions of years in the orbit
I'm breaking out
towards the blue planet
Being together!
Drink, father, fire, sea
Your stone, your light!
Which strength deters us?
Sister, let's become one, skin on skin.
We will burst, tear, melt
Giant rock, stone massacre
Inundation -
Water wars, where mountains break
And become one, beloved sister!
I am approaching, my way on yours, moonlitpath.
Great are you, bind me the most!
Born of same blood, grown from the same stone
Finally united.
CRASH.
Ok, that would be the moon.
