about

Sanja of Agitation asked me to put some guitar on her track 'noe sphere crystal cyclone'. This is a 40 minute track, so here is a ten minute excerpt of some cyclone guitar graffiti I sprayed across their immense groove. Such grooves are a departure for me, so this is yet another experiment.
The guitar used was my Ibanez, which I call 'Red Mist'

Picturesque Red Mist in the wild whirling Cyclone!

crazy !
insanity is my normality

some galactic funk here!

love the rhythm....and ambience
I'd hoped you'd like this one! The rhythm is courtesy of Phi of Agitation, who is a great bassist like yourself, but here she knocks it out on a synth. It really is a great groove. I put some guitar on which may have added to the galactic ambience!

intriguing churning beat collaboration.
It's fascinating the effect that sound has on Time, even though sound is to a large extent subservient to Time. How often has one listened to a long piece, say over 40 minutes, and Time has flown by. Then one can listen to a 3 minute piece and it seems like an eternity - neither effect is good or bad, it is just one of the magical aspects of Sound. I did play across the whole 40 minutes piece, which is on Agitation's profile, but by and large only liked 10 minutes of what I did, hence the piece is an excerpt, although I scrapped what I didn't use. The interesting thing here is the contrast between the free guitar sounds [free tonally and rhythmically] and the strict beat and key centre of Agitation's synth

I also found that contrast interesting. It is one I am familiar with and like to explore. And I agree with what you say about the relative effects of sound upon time (and vice versa). So many factors come into play, not least being whether the listener is also the creator of the sound at the time the sound is created. And of course, the same piece can seem brief of infinite on different listenings.
: Yes - this might be why totally free improvisation [which is in itself a relative term] has a small audience, because the latter are not involved in playing the piece at the time, and because free playing doesn't offer the hooks, structures and themes of regular music [those things which make music a 'language' of sorts] the audience can't so easily 'relate' to the sounds. Then the listening experience will be laborious to them, but - as you say - to the musicians it might fly past. But in all cases, this subjectivity [as you rightly touch on] points to the unreality of Time. The feature which musical involvement has [whether as a player or a listener - and the difference between those two is slimmer than imagined] is timelessness. Famously on The Bluesbreakers album the liner said that Eric's playing made 'time stand still'.]

digging the bpm
Agitation knock out a great groove!
:
some things trigger words, this just leaves me with open mouth and heavy inner travelling
when words run out sounds take over - these sound flow in and out of the body like the fiery breath of Kali

the cosmic trains are rollin in chew cheeeew ;-)
Yeah - that guitar sounds like a train right there - quite apt as the whole thing is m o v i n g! It's the Yardbird's The Train Kept a Rollin' for the digital age .. all night long, all night long! The further out in Space you go, the louder the echo of the freight train Blues

What an electric catharsis! Intense!
Thanks! the best things are usually spontaneous, one-off and almost accidental, as this was. The less input from the rational mind, the better. I believe this is because the spirits can better communicate with us in such dionysian conditions; and yes, by the same token, such condiond are - like the dionysia - cathartic

A Great work of Art/fun !
I think you've got something there! These grooves are fun, bottom line!
