Umma Gumma- ish ... well, I always like Dave Gilmour's solo track on that album, The Narrow Way

very vocal. i like that ... that's because we come out of the blues - where the guitar follows the vocal - as BB had it - "I sing, then Lucille sings" - and going back to the country blues, with the slide - so it is always based on vocals ... but it could extreme vocals like Diamanda Galas or something, or animal sounds ... animal vocals ... machine vocals ... the voice of a tree dying in a forest ... this is a heavy track, but then life can be heavy

choke it ... yes, it really is that violent ... I like to make sounds that I want to hear, and the sounds I like with whammy bar stuff are the strings tearing at the nut and the bridge, the springs groaning and the bar slamming against the face of the guitar, and the life being choked out of the thing ... the guitar is so live that every part of it responds with a sound ... that's what I want to hear!

red mist. is that a sniper reference? sniper? - no - that would be 'pink mist' ... just checked out the refs - red mist/pink mist as the spray of blood when a sniper hits ... wow ... hadn't thought of that ... I was thinking of Black Dog vs. Red Mist, the latter as in anger ... but then I decided to name the two guitars used on this piece - my black Yamaha ERG1 [now called Black Wing] and my Ibanez GAX [now called Red Mist]. I was also thinking of a war between black forces from the air [like the Luftwaffe] attacking red ground forces [like the Soviets] ...

sci fi - yeah - future wars are foretold here ... when will war stop ...

The layers of this are ridiculous! Quite a tapestry of strangeness!
yes - with layers you have stop just before the point that they start to cancel each other out ... did I stop!?! Was perfect!

mysterious vibes - more is suggested beyond what is actually there - it's as if there is a curtain here behind which lurks a hidden god ... yes we are in the Cave of the Mysteries
